Potato Fun!

Well, another awesome month of science at Williams! This last month we:
-Learned about air pressure by launching potatoes 100+ meters with a bike pump and pvc pipe.
-Inertia experiments like the old pull the table cloth from under the dishes
-made a first round of mouse trap cars
-Dropped eggs from the roof of the lab

We are looking forward to many exciting new experiments in the New Year!

Last club of 2010 is SECME on Thurs. 12/16 until 3:45

Science Club this Thursday!

We will have our first session with the Science Explorer's Club this Thursday, September 23. The club will run from 1:45-3:45.

Excellent first month!

We have had an excellent first month in school so far! We have done the following experiments in the lab:
4/5th grade: Which Soap Makes the Biggest Bubbles?
Which Soil Absorbs the Most Water?
Made our own Lava Lamp
Density (Oil and Water)
Matter Magic Tricks with various materials

3rd grade: Matter magic with balloons, gas, etc.
Seed pod dissection.
Yeast growth.

2nd grade:
Seed Pods
Yeast observations
Polymers (Oobleck)


In SECME we built very strong structures with nothing but toothpicks and marshmallows!
